Thank you for your purchase of a monitor or laptop from Computer Lounge. Please read below to find information regarding the returns and RMA policies for monitors and laptops with dead pixels.

Generally if a monitor or laptop is purchased from Computer Lounge and dead pixel(s) are discovered, the monitor is considered DOA (dead on arrival) within 14 days of purchase. To request a Return, please click the following link to submit a new support ticket: Computer Lounge Support Team Please make sure to give us full details of the fault with serial numbers so we can process the RMA quickly. A Computer Lounge representative will contact you and provide you with return instructions via E-mail.

Acer Monitors and Laptops

What is the Acer policy on defective or stuck pixel on my LCD display?

LCD displays are made up of a set number of pixels and each pixel is made from 3 sub-pixels - one Red, one Blue and one Green. Each sub-pixel has its own transistor, which makes manufacturing the glass substrate very complex.

Due to the nature of the manufacturing process, occasional defects can occur. Pixel defects or failures cannot be fixed or repaired and can happen at any stage in the LCD’s life. There are two types of pixel defects:

  • Bright Sub-Pixel: A sub-pixel is displayed as a small white dot on a black pattern.
  • Dark Sub-Pixel: A sub-pixel is displayed as a small black dot on a white pattern.

 

 

The table below shows the allowable number of dead sub-pixels for the native resolution of the LCD panel. Your display can be replaced during the duration of the limited warranty period if the number of dead pixels is greater than the allowable number.

ASUS Monitors and Laptops

LCD panels are made up of millions of micro electronic pixels. If one pixel is no longer lit, it will become a bright or dark pixel. By ISO 13406-2 standards, ASUS conforms to the acceptance spot level which lies between 3 to 5 bright/dark pixel defects. In order to deliver ultimate vision experience to you, panels that contain less than or equal to the above number of spots, then it is considered an acceptable LCD monitor. Please refer Bright/Dark Spot Acceptance Detail below:

BenQ's Zero Bright Dot Guarantee (ZBD) policy:

Unyielding commitment to quality and the satisfaction of our customers has driven BenQ to offer a ZBD Guarantee as part of our standard Limited Warranty coverage. Even if only one bright pixel is found, a free monitor exchange is guaranteed during the Limited Warranty period.

Definition of Bright Sub-Pixel
  • A red, blue, and green sub-pixel that is always lit on a black background of an LCD screen is deemed a bright sub-pixel.
  • A pixel that is always dark or colored on a white background of an LCD screen is deemed a dark pixel.

  • Ambient illuminance is more than 200 lux (or typical office environment)
  • Viewing distance is more than 35 cm

BenQ's Zero Bright Dot Policy does not cover the following conditions:

  • Bright sub-pixel that is partially lit – type A

Dell Monitors

Premium Panel Guarantee is premium within the industry because it is guaranteed during the term of the limited hardware warranty to have zero pixels stuck in the "on" position—a factor that results in a bright dot on the display.

During the LCD manufacturing process, it is not uncommon for one or more subpixels to get into an unchanging state causing a bright or dead pixel. A display with 1 to 5 fixed subpixel is considered normal and within industry standards.

Dell offers a Premium Panel Guarantee that ensures zero "bright pixel" defects on Dell UltraSharp, Professional, and Alienware monitors.

Defective pixels do not necessarily impair the performance of the monitor. However, they can be distracting, especially if the pixels are in positions where viewing quality is reduced.

Customers who purchase an extended warranty can also take advantage of this coverage during the limited hardware warranty period.

Key Warranty Conditions:

1. During the stated warranty period, GIGABYTE / AORUS (“We”, “Us”) will for free, provide product repair services and if the product cannot be repaired, it will be replaced. The repairs and replacement service could still be subject to shipment fees for customers. Physical damage to the product caused by customers or due to shipping will not be covered by the warranty.

2. Small and medium size (under 40 inches) LCD monitor bright and dark dot warranty Bright and dark dot description and definition:

Bright Dots: non-performing pixels appearing as a red, green, blue, yellow, cyan, magenta, or white dots on a dark or black background.

Dark dots: dark non-performing pixels appearing as a black dot on a bright or white background (dots that light up abnormally under other background colors are also called dark dots).

  • AORUS series

    1) It's guaranteed there will be no bright dots on the whole panel area.

    2) The method to determine bright and dark dots

      • The eye must be away from the screen by 35cm or more, ambient illumination must be greater than 200 Lux (for example a common office environment).
      • New products are guaranteed to be zero bright dot for 12 months. During 13~36 months after purchase, bright dots must not exceed 3 dots (which refers to the 4th dot)
      • Dark dot warranty conditions: Dark dots must not exceed 5 dots (which refers to the 6th dot)

      GIGABYTE do not provide ZERO BRIGHT DOT FREE guaranty service for all Notebook and Netbook

      Defects below found in first 30 days of the end user purchasing, panel can be replaced once in the service center nearby. Nevertheless, claimer needs to provide the invoice to prove it within first 30 days.

      Notice: Any claim case, if over our guaranty period, will only treat as regular RMA process. The service only focus on functional repair. The guarantee will not be offer for LCD replacement neither.

      LG Monitors

      Guarantee for bright and dark sub-pixel

      Bright or dark sub-pixels can occur during the production of the LCD Monitor panel but does not affect the LCD Monitor functionality. The customer may notice the bright or dark spots if the film of the liquid crystal does not perform as expected while customers uses the LCD monitor. However, this is not considered a defect unless the number of bright and dark subpixels exceeds the maximum allowable threshold as shown in Table 1.
