SolidWorks: A Comprehensive Tool for Mechanical Engineering and Simulation

SolidWorks represents a solid modeling CAD solution utilized in mechanical design applications, along with simulation and product data management functions. Developed by Dassault Systèmes, SolidWorks boasts user-friendly tools for crafting intricate models, assemblies, and detailed drawings with ease. The software's compatibility with engineering tools makes it a popular option for designing products and facilitating manufacturing processes.

How to Choose the Workstation Specs

  • Processor

If users are primarily modelling in SolidWorks we recommend processors with a high clock speed, and per-core performance. Processors that meet this requirement include Intel’s Core i7 and Core i9 ‘K series’ processors. For users that are more focused on simulation workloads, we recommend processors with a higher core-count, and memory handling capacity, such as AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper processors.

  • Graphics Card

The graphics card is responsible for the framerate achieved in the viewport when panning around and zooming in on 3D models. Dassault Systèmes recommends that users stick to Nvidia professional-grade RTX A series cards over their GeForce RTX counterparts, as they often deliver improved performance, and offer exclusive features such as Realview and Ambient Occlusion.

  • Memory

The amount of memory required to run SolidWorks well well will depend on the complexity of the assemblies that you are working on. A general rule-of-thumb is that SolidWorks requires 5GB of RAM for the program itself, and then users recommended to multiply the size of their largest model by 20 to determine the total memory requirement.

Why Choose Computer Lounge Workstations?

  • Tailored to Your Workflow

Computer Lounge workstations are built-to-order, tailored by our expert consultants, and optimised for your workflow. In contrast, our competitors' off-the-shelf workstations are often designed for broader workloads and may not meet your performance expectations.

  • Professional-tier Hardware

Unlike many of our competitors, we don’t build gaming systems and label them ‘workstations’, we use professional-grade components from industry-leading brands, sourced through manufacturers or local distributors, never parallel-imported.

  • Skip the Middleman

Our 20+ year commitment to customer satisfaction has enabled us to establish direct manufacturer relationships, allowing us to provide cost-effective solutions and in-house support for quick turnarounds and better customer outcomes.

  • Encased in Excellence

Say no to garish gamer-oriented cases; say yes to sophisticated Swedish design. Our workstations are built with premium cases, featuring premium natural materials and offering superior airflow and silent operation, adding a touch of elegance to your workspace.

  • 7 Days a Week Premium Support

Our in-house technicians are available to assist you via our support portal 7 days a week, ensuring minimal downtime. In the unlikely event that you were to experience issues with your workstation, expert help is just a click away, every day.

  • 3 Years Warranty

Each system built by Computer Lounge undergoes rigorous testing to optimize performance and efficiency - from audio inputs to chassis airflow, we leave nothing to chance. This allows us to offer a 3-year RTB warranty as standard on all Computer Lounge workstations.
