How to Choose the Workstation Specs
Processor
Like the majority of photogrammetry applications, the processor has a major impact on the efficiency that a workstation is able to complete tasks. For larger projects, AMD's Threadripper 7000-series processors perform exceptionally well due to their high core counts, and moderately high clock speeds.
Graphics Card
RealityCapture utilises CUDA to generate 3D models, requiring a dedicated Nvidia graphics card. While a mid-range GeForce RTX graphics card may be adequate for most users, significant efficiency gains that can be achieved when deploying a card with at least 16GB of VRAM, or even multiple GPUs for more demanding projects.
Memory
RealityCapture's memory requirements will vary depending on the number, and quality of the images being used. At the default settings at least 32GB of RAM is recommended for projects containing 4,000 images, 64GB for 8,000 images, and at least 128GB for 16,000+ images.
