Processor
Maxon’s Redshift is a GPU-based rendering engine, so its demands on the processor are relatively minimal, however when choosing a processor it is important to consider what other applications are being used as part of the user’s workflow, such as modelling and animation, which will require a powerful processor. It is also important to consider the number of PCI-e lanes that are provided by the processor, especially when considering a multi-GPU configuration.

Graphics Card
A high-end video card will reduce your render times if you intend to use GPU-based rendering in Redshift. Multiple video cards can be used to both increase processing power, but to increase the pool of available VRAM, which is essential for larger, more complex scenes. Where maximising VRAM is required, Nvidia’s professional-grade RTX cards may be the best option, as they generally have more VRAM than their GeForce RTX counterparts.

Memory
The amount of memory required to run Redshift well will depend on the complexity of the projects that you are working on. 32GB should be enough for most users, however we recommend 64GB for users who keep multiple applications open simultaneously as part of their workflow.
