Processor
Tasks such as modelling and animation within Blender are very CPU-intensive, requiring fewer, faster cores to ensure a smooth, uninterrupted workflow. Simulation tasks can benefit from fast cores, or more cores depending on the type of simulation that being run. CPU rendering on the other hand works better with more cores, with processors like AMD’s high core-count Threadripper processors remaining unchallenged in this workload.

Graphics Card
The performance of a workstation’s graphics card dictates the framerate that the viewport is able to run at, with the number, and complexity of the models being more taxing on the graphics card. Blender is also able to utilise the graphics card for rendering models, with performance scaling fairly linearly with price. Nvidia’s GeForce RTX cards currently perform much better than AMD’s Radeon cards in Blender.
